Crafting a real space for work

Our first project is designing and building a real place to work - immersing a group of teenagers in the process of building a real place to work.

Here's some of work we did previously: 

There is really only one way to learn how to do something and that is to do it. If you want to learn to build a mousetrap, design a building, cook a stir-fry, or be a project manager, you must have a go at doing it.  We understand that learning a skill means eventually trying your hand at the skill. When there is no real harm in simply trying we allow novices to "give it a shot."

This interactive program is designed to help young students (14-17 y.o.) learn how to plan, manage and design a creative work space.

The course is taught in English (and some Romanian :-) ).

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to demonstrate beginner level competencies in the following key areas:

Learning outcomes

  • Practice the application of basic rules of space planning and organization

  • Conduct project planning activities that accurately forecast project costs, timelines, and quality. Implement processes for successful resource, communication, and risk and change management

  • Identify the fundamentals of design

  • Recognize qualitative use of planes, surfaces, and openings that enclose space

  • Conduct project closure activities and obtain formal project acceptance

(Aproximately 10 sessions: in the office, in the field and remote). Mostly weekends and sometimes evenings.

We offer grants (2 places free to those in need of financial support) to help young people into education, training and employment.  

UpSchool is run by a non-profit organization. All funds will be re-invested in future programs.
